How Invisalign Clear Aligners are Made

If you are looking to adjust your smile then you may be considering Invisalign clear aligners. Our North Vancouver dentists talk about treatment using clear aligns and how Invisalign aligners are made.

If you're thinking about using Invisalign clear aligners instead of braces for your orthodontic treatment, you might be curious about how they're made. This makes sense since they will be a part of your life for a long time!

Invisalign Aligners Made From Medical-Grade Resins

Invisalign clear aligners function as an orthodontic treatment that shares similarities with braces, with the added advantage of being removable for eating and drinking. Invisalign clear aligners are made of clear, transparent plastic, unlike the metal and brackets used in traditional braces. Our polyurethane resins are of high molecular weight and meet the USP Class VI medical-grade standards. They are also free from BPA.

Custom Fit & Production of Invisalign Clear Aligners

Each case is unique and will require a specific treatment plan, just like traditional orthodontic treatment using metal braces.

The custom-made Invisalign aligners snugly fit the shape of your mouth, helping you achieve your smile goals.

During the consultation, your dentist will personally meet with you to take X-rays, impressions, and photographs of your teeth. Your dentist can create a personalized treatment plan and discuss it with you, using these images and X-rays as a basis. Your clear aligners will be manufactured once you approve the anticipated outcomes.

With the iTero Impression Scanner, you can expect a highly precise model of your teeth. This advanced technology utilizes 3D computer imaging to capture detailed images of each tooth. You'll also get a preview of how your teeth will appear once your treatment is finished.

The dentist completes quadrant and full bite scans to assess your malocclusion in context with the rest of your mouth.

Align Technologies receives the complete model and scanned images, and uses them to create the aligners.

Treatment With Invisalign Clear Aligners

During your Invisalign treatment, you will receive a series of sets of clear aligners. Each set will gradually move your teeth in small increments.

On average, Invisalign treatment lasts for one year, with each new set of aligners typically worn for two weeks before moving on to the next. You will probably need to use 50 or more aligner sets during your treatment.
